Associate Professor Writing Retreat

The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) partners with the Program in Writing and Communication (PWC) on a 2 & 1/2 day writing retreat for Associate Professors in Galveston. Hosting the event out-of-town gives faculty members the chance to truly disconnect for a few days to focus on their writing.

The Writers’ Retreat provides associate professors (1) support for building effective writing habits and strategies, (2) individual feedback on a current project, and, most importantly, (3) time to focus on their writing. Most of the retreat agenda will be devoted to quiet writing time, during which one-on-one writing consultations will be available. Mealtimes are used to discuss topics of interest to the group.

Assistant Professor Writing Retreat

The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) and the Program in Writing and Communication (PWC) host a writing retreat for Assistant Professors. This writers' retreat provides assistant professors support for building effective writing habits and strategies and, most importantly, time to focus on their writing. A minimum of 5 hours a day is devoted to writing, and mealtimes are used to discuss topics of interest to the group.

The OpEd Project

The OPEd's Project mission is to increase the range of voices we hear in the media. Their programs offer a unique, meaningful way to elevate knowledge and ideas of underrepresented expert voices. Contact our office (ofd@) if you are interested in learning more.
