Professional Development for Department Chairs
The Office of Faculty Development partners with the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs to host monthly discussions for department chairs.

Academy on the Academy
The OFD hosts a leadership workshop to promote a strong bench of potential faculty leaders at Rice. This workshop introduces faculty to the basic functioning of university administration. It takes place over two-half days and features presentations from Rice leadership. The event is open to all interested Rice faculty at any rank.
Objectives
- To promote knowledge about university functions, policy, and leadership among Rice faculty
- To cultivate emerging leaders from among the faculty.
- To encourage faculty engagement with Rice leadership.
- To promote faculty input on challenges and opportunities in higher education.
