The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) hosts several events for new faculty at the start of the academic year.

New Faculty Orientation (NFO)

The OFD partners with the Center for Teaching Excellence to host an in-person, two-day New Faculty Orientation for all incoming faculty. The first day is an overview of the University and its resources, and the second day focuses on teaching.

Research at Rice Orientation

The Office of Research and the Office of Faculty Development hosts an orientation for incoming tenured/tenure-track faculty about research at Rice. The session topics include Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, proposal development, sponsored research, and research compliance.

Welcome Event for New Faculty and Newly Promoted Faculty

Hosted by the Provost, this event provides an opportunity for new faculty to meet other Rice University faculty and also serves as a celebration for those faculty recently promoted.
