In 2012, the Office of Faculty Development offered the Future Faculty Workshop which was targeted for underrepresented postdocs and PhD students in Science, Engineering, and Psychology. This highly regarded workshop encouraged scholars (selected from a pool of applicants by a committee of Rice faculty) to pursue an academic career, and also provided tools and advice for the academic job search.
