The Program in Writing and Communication is excited to announce our inaugural Visual Communication Symposium (VCS), an interdisciplinary research and professionalization event to be held at Rice University on March 1 and 2, 2019.
The theme of the 2019 symposium is “Visualize Your Research.” Nine visualization experts from various disciplinary backgrounds and professions will discuss the power of visuals in conveying knowledge and will explain how cutting-edge visualization technologies have led to their own research breakthroughs. In particular, our program focuses on research in the field of information visualization as well as practical applications that enable researchers to integrate diverse data sets and catalyze exciting new lines of inquiry. Individual sessions will cover a range of topics, including figure and data visualization design, telling your story through illustration, diachronic mapping, and virtual modeling. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from visualization experts in two hands-on visualization workshops.
